Friends I Made
Okello Isaac: Bright Young Ugandan
Isaac is 21 years old and was born in Gulu, Uganda. He has been part of the Aid Africa staff since 2011. In this picture, he is helping distribute fruit trees in the village of Bobi.
Here is Isaac (in the white shirt) helping men and women assemble Aid Africa's fuel efficient stoves in Bobi.
I had a conversation with Isaac about his idols: John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr. He wants to be a lawyer and is looking forward to the possibility of going to Gulu University. Please read the letter he wrote below.
If you are in a position to donate to Isaac's University fund, please see the Expenses and Donations page.

Graty: Resilient, Hard-working, and Absolutely Amazing Woman
I met Graty when she came to Aid Africa to clean the office. She works very hard, and was so grateful for anything I was able to give her.
When her sister passed away, she took in her nieces and nephews. Graty is one of the most resilient people I've ever met, and has the most wonderful smile.
One day, I sent her home with a few shirts for her children. Her son, Olanya Felix, responded by sending a thank-you letter back with her that was addressed to me. It was amazing to be part of their family during the time I was there.

These are three of the children she works so very hard to feed, house, and clothe. Olanya Felix, left, is 17 years old and goes to secondary school. When I was there to visit, he told us how his mother hadn't been able to pay his school fees yet, and the semester had already started. He was able to go to school still, but the school he was attending had threatened to stop feeding him the school meals. Since then, she has worked very hard and paid-off the school fees.
Before I left, I gave the goat (whom I became fond of and named Alex) that was saved from being slaughtered to Graty and her family. He was taken out to her father's village to be bred. The resulting baby goats will then be bred and sold to help pay for school fees and other living costs.
A friend I met there, Jenna, helped me buy a female goat while I was there to be bred with Alex. Since returning to the States, we've been able to buy a second female goat. The baby goats are being split 50/50 between Graty and Jenna. Jenna supports six teenage girls, paying for their school fees and other things like medical costs. If you'd like to know more about Jenna's accomplishments with these amazing young women, please read her blog here.
